As a member of the B’Sue Boutiques Creative Group on facebook we have monthly design challenges. These challenges vary each month but one of the “requirements” is to use pieces from B’Sue Boutiques. You will find fantastic brass and plated brass components. Though my true love is vintage many of the brass stampings have a vintage style and are even made from old vintage dies. As you can see from my necklace the focal piece which is from B’Sue Boutiques looks vintage.
This months challenge is summer memories. Here is more information on the challenge.
Here is my story and entry: I was fortunate to go to Germany every summer to visit family. My sister and I loved going to Nurnberg where they have a market through the town. This art nouveau style bracelet was purchased at one of the markets. My sister got the exact same one.
These trips to Europe are why I love art nouveau art and jewelry so very much. The masthead pendant is done in an art nouveau style which is why I chose her for my challenge piece.
We also would visit art exhibits and the first time my sister and I took a train to Munich by ourselves we went to the Lenbach House and saw an August Macke exhibit, hence the colors used in the necklace.
The red bakelite button is from the 1930s and was my grandmothers. So you can see I have incorporated my wonderful summer memories into this necklace.
